Kangana Ranaut risks arrest: non-bailable warrant issued by court
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, known for her bold opinions is now facing potential legal trouble as she might soon face a non-bailable warrant. Her career which has seen red carpet events and major box office hits could now take a turn towards legal battles. This situation arises from her ongoing dispute with Bollywood lyricist Javed Akhtar which began in 2020 when Ranaut shared details of a controversial conversation with Akhtar from 2016. Akhtar denied her claims and filed a defamation case against her for allegedly damaging his reputation. In response Ranaut accused Akhtar of coercion in a counterclaim leading to further legal complications.
Ranaut has reportedly attended fewer than 40 court hearings and the Bandra court has now given her one last chance to appear or face the issuance of a non-bailable warrant. Her lawyer has explained her absences by citing her parliamentary duties but the court's patience is reportedly running out. Despite her legal troubles Ranaut's career remains successful with her recent film Emergency and the opening of a new restaurant but the legal issues may soon overshadow her professional achievements. The public and her fans are eagerly watching to see how she handles this situation—will she tackle the legal challenges with the same courage she shows in her career or will the court proceedings dominate her life moving forward? Only time will tell if her next chapter will be as dramatic as the roles she plays.
