Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Officially Divorced, Concluding Eight-Year Legal Battle

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu):  Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have officially reached a divorce settlement bringing an end to their eight-year legal battle. The announcement was made on December 31, 2024, by Jolie’s attorney, James Simon. He confirmed that the couple had agreed on the division of their marital and property rights, marking the conclusion of one of Hollywood’s most public and contentious separations.

Jolie first filed for divorce in September 2016, citing "irreconcilable differences" after a reported incident on a private jet involving Pitt. Since then, the couple has been entangled in multiple legal disputes, particularly over custody of their six children and the division of shared assets including their Chateau Miraval vineyard in France.

Though a settlement has been reached, some issues remain unresolved, particularly concerning the vineyard. Pitt has accused Jolie of selling her share without his approval describing the action as "vindictive." The couple’s legal battles have largely been kept private as they opted for a private judge. Jolie expressed relief at finally reaching this point but also acknowledged the exhaustion caused by the protracted legal proceedings. The couple’s relationship began in 2005 and they were married for two years before their separation.
