Kejriwal accuses BJP of 'Operation Lotus' in New Delhi, claims vote manipulation and money distribution
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Arvind Kejriwal made a significant claim during a press conference, accusing the BJP of running 'Operation Lotus' in the New Delhi constituency, which he represents. He alleged that since December 15, BJP has been using this operation to manipulate votes in his constituency. Kejriwal stated that BJP is employing every possible tactic to win the elections, including deleting 5,000 votes and adding 7,500 new votes. He emphasized that if 5% of the votes out of 1,06,000 are being deleted and 7,500 votes are being added, then what is the need for elections? This is blatant manipulation, he claimed.
Kejriwal further asserted that BJP is deleting the names of existing voters. Between October 29 and December 14, applications were made to delete 900 votes in the New Delhi constituency. Since December 15, 5,000 applications for vote deletions have been submitted, and on December 19 alone, 1,500 votes were sought to be deleted. Regarding the addition of votes, Kejriwal questioned how, after the Election Commission spent two months door-to-door verifying voters, 10,000 new voters have been added in just 15 days. He alleged that BJP is bringing in outsiders and creating fake voter identities for them.
Kejriwal also warned officials, urging them to be cautious of any wrongful actions they might be pressured to take. He advised that while the government may change, their files and signatures will remain, and they will be held accountable for any wrongdoings. Kejriwal concluded by accusing BJP of using three main tactics: first, deleting votes, second, adding fake votes, and third, distributing money to voters. He claimed that BJP is openly distributing money, but people are saying they will take the money but vote for the Aam Aadmi Party.
