New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): BJP has announced its first list of 29 candidates for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, aiming to take on the top leadership of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) with several prominent names. In this list, Parvesh Verma will contest from the New Delhi constituency, while Ramesh Bidhuri has been given the responsibility to challenge AAP leader Atishi in the Kalkaji seat.

The BJP has also nominated Arvinder Singh Lovely, who joined the party from Congress to contest from Gandhi Nagar. Kailash Gahlot, who switched from AAP will contest from Bijwasan, facing AAP’s Surender Bhardwaj. Rajkumar Chauhan has been fielded from Mangolpuri and in Jangpura, BJP has nominated Sardar Tarvinder Singh Marwah to challenge former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

Additionally, in Patparganj, BJP has given the ticket to Ravinder Singh Negi to contest against Congress’s Awdh Ojha. In the previous assembly elections, Negi had posed a strong challenge to Manish Sisodia. This time it will be interesting to see if he can overcome Awdh Ojha, a first-time candidate. The most intriguing contest will be in the high-profile New Delhi seat, where Parvesh Verma will challenge former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Congress has fielded Sheila Dikshit’s son, Sandeep Dikshit. This will result in a triangular battle for this prestigious constituency.
