India to emerge as global leader in innovation, tech-driven growth: Piyush Goyal

New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): India is poised to emerge as a global leader in innovation and technology-driven growth, said Piyush Goyal, Union Minister for Commerce and Industry. During a visit to the 'Startup Mahakumbh’ event, Goyal praised the work of startups, highlighting world-class innovations in areas such as energy efficiency, electronics, defense equipment, and fintech, which is empowering ordinary citizens. He emphasized that this is the foundation upon which India will make its mark in the global innovation landscape.

“This is the base – the foundation – on which India will enter the world of innovation on a large scale. We will make our presence felt on the global stage. I leave this event extremely satisfied with the work done by our young startups. Young India is eager and ready to capture the world,” Goyal stated. The second edition of the Startup Mahakumbh featured 10 thematic pavilions focusing on key industries such as AI, DeepTech, Cybersecurity, HealthTech, BioTech, AgriTech, Climate Tech, FinTech, Gaming, Defence and Space Tech, and Mobility. Goyal explored several exhibits showcasing innovations in Climate Tech, BioTech, AI, and DeepTech, including intelligent air purifiers, EV tractors, AI-driven platforms for functional brain mapping, and advanced manufacturing drones for defense applications.

The event brought together over 3,000 startups, 1,000+ investors and incubators, and more than 10,000 delegates from 50+ countries, providing a prime opportunity for startups to pitch their businesses, foster investor relationships, and secure vital funding. A significant moment in India's fintech journey was also marked with the launch of the India Fintech Foundation, with prominent figures in attendance, including the G20 Sherpa and former deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of India.
