When Dowry Meets Beauty Parlour: Hardoi Man Arrested for Cutting Wife’s Braid

Hardoi (The Uttam Hindu): A bizarre incident has been reported from Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh. A man was arrested on Saturday after allegedly cutting his wife's braid while she was at a beauty parlour getting her eyebrows done. The incident came to light when the woman’s father, Radhakrishna, filed a dowry harassment complaint against the husband, Rampratap.

According to the police, Radhakrishna reported that his daughter had been facing continuous harassment from her in-laws since her marriage a year ago. He further alleged that they demanded dowry, including a refrigerator and a cooler. A week before the incident, Radhakrishna had taken his daughter back to his home due to the ongoing harassment.

The situation reportedly escalated when Rampratap, accompanied by three others, visited the beauty parlour and cut his wife's braid. While Radhakrishna believes the act was connected to the dowry harassment, local sources suggest that Rampratap was angered by his wife's visit to the parlour and took the extreme step. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
