US Airstrikes Devastate Houthi Rebels at Yemen Oil Port, 38 Dead, 102 Injured
Dubai (The Uttam Hindu): – The conflict between the United States and Yemen's Houthi rebels escalated sharply as the US military launched a massive airstrike on the Ras Issa oil port, killing at least 38 people and injuring over 100 others. The port, under Houthi control, was reportedly targeted to disrupt the rebel group’s access to vital fuel supplies.
The US Central Command confirmed the operation, stating that the strikes aimed to cripple the Houthis’ economic resources and reduce their capacity to inflict suffering on civilians. The attack, one of the deadliest in recent months, follows a series of continuous operations by the US military since the 15th, under the directive of President Donald Trump.
According to military sources, this strike marks the most lethal assault yet in the US campaign against the Houthis. The primary goal was to sever the fuel lines financing rebel operations, a move seen as critical in curbing their ongoing regional aggression.
Since November 2023, Houthi militants have launched numerous drone and missile attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea, claiming to target Israeli vessels in protest of the Gaza conflict. Although a brief ceasefire had paused these attacks, tensions reignited with renewed hostilities in Gaza last month. Earlier in March, more than 50 people were reportedly killed in US air raids, making Thursday’s strike another grim milestone in the intensifying Middle East confrontation.
