UPI Services Down: Thousands Report Payment Failures and Fund Transfer Issues
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A significant outage affected UPI services, causing widespread disruptions to payment transactions and fund transfers. Over 2,200 user complaints were reported on Downdetector, with issues primarily related to failed payments and transfers. Major payment platforms, including Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm and various banking apps, such as SBI, ICICI and HDFC, were impacted.
The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), which operates the UPI network, acknowledged the issue and stated that it is working to resolve the disruption. "NPCI is currently facing intermittent technical issues, leading to partial UPI transaction declines. We are working to resolve the issue, and will keep you updated. We regret the inconvenience caused."
This marks the third UPI service disruption in about three weeks. Previous outages occurred on March 26 and April 2, with NPCI attributing the issues to intermittent technical problems. The NPCI has assured users that it is working to restore normal operations.
