New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Khalistani extremists attempted to attack India’s Minister of External Affairs, S. Jaishankar, as he was leaving a discussion at Chatham House, an independent policy institute in London. A video shared on social media shows a man running toward Jaishankar’s vehicle and tearing the Indian national flag, while pro-Khalistan demonstrators gathered outside the venue, waving flags and protesting against his presence.

Jaishankar is currently on an official visit to the United Kingdom and Ireland from March 4 to 9, aiming to strengthen India's relations with both countries. A Ministry of External Affairs release stated that India and the UK share a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which has been expanding across various sectors, including defence and security, trade and economy, health, education, and people-to-people ties.

The incident highlights the continued tensions surrounding the Khalistan movement and the challenges faced by Indian officials abroad. While the protest was alarming, the external affairs ministry has not commented further on the specific details of the attack..
