Saif Ali Khan’s Attacker Suspected to Be Bangladeshi, Lived in Mumbai for 6 Months

New Delhi (Uttam Hindu News): Mumbai Police has suspected that the accused who attacked Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is a Bangladeshi. His name is Mohammad Shariful Islam Shahzad who according to the police had come to the actor's house to commit theft. DCP Dixit Gedam gave this information in a press conference.

Addressing media persons, DCP Zone 9 Dixit Gedam said that actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked at his residence at 2 am on January 16. An FIR was registered and one accused has been arrested. His name is Mohammad Shariful Islam Shahzad, aged 30 years.

According to the DCP, the accused had entered Saif Ali Khan's house with the intention of theft. He will be produced in court and custody will be sought. We suspect that he is of Bangladeshi origin, but at the moment we are investigating. There is primary evidence that he is Bangladeshi, he does not have Indian documents. We suspect that the accused is of Bangladeshi origin and hence sections related to the Passport Act have been added in the case. He will be produced in court today and police custody will be sought.

DCP Dixit Gedam further said, "Prima facie the accused is Bangladeshi and changed his name after entering India illegally. He was using his current name Vijay Das. He came to Mumbai 5-6 months ago. He stayed here. The accused worked in a housekeeping agency for a few days in Mumbai and then around Mumbai."

Let us tell you, a person was arrested from Thane on Sunday morning for allegedly attacking actor Saif Ali Khan. The police have interrogated more than 50 people so far. 35 teams were deployed to catch the accused. Actor Saif Ali Khan was injured by an attacker who entered his house late at night on January 16. He himself reached Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai in an auto, where he underwent surgery.
