RG Kar Medical College Back in the Spotlight: MBBS Student Found Dead Under Suspicious Circumstances

Kolkata (The Uttam Hindu): RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata is back in the spotlight but this time for a tragic reason. The body of MBBS student Ivy Prasad (20) was found under suspicious circumstances. Her body was discovered hanging from the ceiling of her quarters in Kamrhatty, located in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.

The police have registered a case of unnatural death and are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the cause of death. Ivy's parents have declined to comment on the incident. Her mother, Sumitra Prasad is a doctor employed at the ESI Hospital. Family sources indicate that the student had been suffering from an illness and had been battling depression.

The Kamrhatty police have initiated an investigation and officials say the cause of death will be confirmed once the post-mortem report is received. It is worth mentioning that only a few months ago, a trainee doctor from the same medical college was the victim of a rape and murder case. In that case, the police arrested the accused who was later sentenced to life imprisonment.
