Punjab Govt Under Bhagwant Mann Strengthens Welfare for Senior Citizens
Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): The Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has become the support of every elderly person in the state. The Punjab government is constantly active for the welfare of the elderly. Work related to the health survey of the elderly is being done in the state. Whether it is the Chief Minister's Tirtha Yatra Yojana or the pension given to the elderly, the Mann government has removed every worry that the elderly are worried about in a moment. Rs 3,368.89 crore has been distributed to the elderly pensioners as pension amount till December 2024. Talking about pensioners, there are a total of 34 lakh beneficiaries in the state, which include the elderly, Divyangjan, widows, destitute women and dependent children. Among these, there are a total of 22.68 lakh elderly beneficiaries in the state, to whom pension amount of Rs 3,368.89 crore has been distributed till December 2024.
There is a provision of Rs 4,000 crore for old age pension during the current financial year. Men aged 65 years or above and women aged 58 years or above, whose annual income does not exceed Rs 60,000, are eligible to avail the benefits of this scheme. The amount of financial assistance is sent directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. The elderly have a great desire to go on pilgrimage but due to lack of resources they are unable to fulfill this wish. The Bhagwant Mann government has taken up the task of fulfilling their dreams.
While the wishes of the elderly are being fulfilled with this pilgrimage, they are also giving blessings to the government for it. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who is excited about this scheme, says that the government is feeling proud in arranging pilgrimages for the elderly. Devotees visit Sri Hazur Sahib and Sri Patna Sahib, Varanasi, Mathura, Ajmer Sharif and other places by trains. He said that devotees are being provided with the darshan of Sri Amritsar Sahib, Sri Anandpur Sahib and Sri Damdama Sahib, Sri Vaishno Devi, Mata Chintpurni Ji, Mata Naina Devi Ji, Mata Jwala Ji, Salasar Dham, Khatu Shyam Ji and other places by buses
