PM Modi Lands in Varanasi, Seeks Immediate Report on Rape Case
Varanasi (The Uttam Hindu): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached his parliamentary constituency Varanasi today. As soon as he landed, he took information about the rape incident from the officials. He also gave instructions to prevent recurrence of such incident. Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Kashi on Friday for the first time after the completion of eight years of Uttar Pradesh government. He reached Babatpur Airport and from there left for the public meeting place in Mehndiganj by helicopter.
According to information, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on landing at the airport during his Varanasi visit today, sought detailed information from the Varanasi Police Commissioner, Divisional Commissioner and District Magistrate about a rape incident that took place in the city a few days ago. He directed to identify all the culprits and take strict action against them and make comprehensive arrangements to prevent recurrence of such incidents in future.
Prime Minister Modi was welcomed by Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, District In-charge Minister Suresh Khanna, Urban Development Minister AK Sharma, BJP State President Bhupendra Chaudhary.
It is known that according to the program released by PM Modi, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various development projects worth more than Rs 3,880 crore in Varanasi. Prime Minister Modi will also lay the foundation stone of a road bridge between Varanasi Ring Road and Sarnath, flyovers at Bhikharipur and Manduadih crossing and a highway underpass road tunnel on NH-31 at Varanasi International Airport at a cost of more than Rs 980 crore.
