Dhaka (The Uttam Hindu): The anger against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Bangladesh shows no signs of subsiding, even after three months of continuous protests. The resentment was once again on full display during the 'Echoes of Revolution' program held at Dhaka's Army Stadium on Sunday.

The event featured Pakistan's renowned singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan as the main attraction. However, the evening took a dramatic turn with incidents that have become the center of public discourse. During the concert, student leader Sarjis Alam took the stage and led chants demanding the hanging of Sheikh Hasina. His slogans were echoed by the crowd, including families of those who lost their lives during the July movement.

In his address, Sarjis Alam emphasized the importance of unity, stating, “For the past 16 years, we’ve attempted to take to the streets multiple times, but our success came only when we stood united. This movement teaches us that unity is our strength.” Families of the victims of the July movement were invited to the event, where justice for their loss was a central demand. Speakers stressed that Sheikh Hasina must be brought back to the country to face strict action for her alleged crimes.

Despite the political undertones, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan mesmerized the audience with his performance. He expressed his emotional connection to Dhaka, saying, “Performing here feels like performing in my own country, Pakistan. We Pakistanis always stand with the people of Bangladesh.” This event has further underscored the deepening political instability and rising public anger in Bangladesh.
