Once Close to Rana… Now Set to Turn Mystery Witness; NIA Plans Face-Off
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has started questioning Mumbai terror attack conspirator Tahawwur Rana. The agency is on his 18-day remand and during this time it wants answers about the conspiracy to target ISI, Lashkar and other cities of India.
According to the NIA, Rana will be confronted with a secret witness who had welcomed David Headley to Mumbai in 2006. This witness has been very close to Rana and can now become an important weapon of the NIA against him. His identity has been concealed in the court for security reasons.
It is being told that Headley had conspired to carry out the Mumbai attacks in Pakistan with the help of ISI and Lashkar terrorists. He had conducted a video survey after reaching Mumbai, in which Rana's close aide had helped him. NIA claims that Rana, along with Headley, had conspired to carry out attacks not only in Mumbai but also in other cities of India.
