Massive Blast at Aluminium Foil Factory Sparks Fire, 5 Workers Killed

Nagpur (The Uttam Hindu): A massive explosion and subsequent fire at an aluminium foil manufacturing factory in Nagpur district of Maharashtra on Friday evening wreaked havoc. At least five workers have died in this tragic accident, while some others have been injured.

The incident took place in Umred MIDC area of ​​Nagpur. On Friday evening around 7 o'clock, a huge explosion suddenly took place in the polished tubing unit of the aluminium foil factory. Immediately after the explosion, the factory caught fire. It is being told that the fire took an even more horrific form due to the aluminium powder present in the factory. The explosion was so massive that the smoke was seen up to a kilometre away.

A total of 87 workers were present in the factory at the time of the accident. Many people were injured due to the explosion and fire. Giving information, Nagpur Rural Superintendent of Police (SP) Harsh Poddar said that initially 6 people were reported injured, who were immediately taken to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Nagpur. Unfortunately, two of these workers died during treatment. Apart from this, the death of three other people who were earlier reported missing has also been confirmed. Thus, the death toll in the accident has increased to five.

As soon as the information was received, several fire brigade vehicles immediately reached the spot. Due to the magnitude of the fire and the presence of aluminum powder, it took a lot of effort to control it. The fire fighters finally controlled the fire after several hours of hard work.

Seeing the seriousness of the incident, local MLA Sanjay Meshram and former MLA Raju Parve also reached the spot. They took stock of the situation and talked to the officials. The administration is currently conducting a detailed investigation into the causes of the incident. There is an atmosphere of mourning in the area due to this accident.
