Major Boat Tragedy in Varanasi: Vessel Capsizes Near Ghat with 60+ On Board

Varanasi (The Uttam Hindu): In a major accident in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh on Friday, a boat full of people capsized in the Ganga river. This accident happened after two boats collided. More than 60 people were on both these boats.

This incident happened near Ganga Paar in front of Man Mandir Ghat in Varanasi. According to the information, all the passengers in the boat are from Odisha. They were visiting the Ganga river in the boat. Then a big boat and a small boat collided with each other. The relief was that all the people in the boat were wearing life jackets. On getting information about the incident, all the people were rescued by NDRF and water police who reached the spot. According to eyewitnesses, the people in the boat are from Odisha. NDRF and water police have rescued all the people, one person got injured. He was treated immediately.

Another eyewitness also confirmed that 60 people were on the boat. Then the big boat hit the small boat, due to which this accident happened. All the people have been rescued. Additional Police Commissioner of Varanasi Dr. S. Chinnappa told that there was a collision between two boats in the Ganga river. There were 58 people on the big boat, while six people were present on the small boat. The big boat hit the small boat, due to which six people fell into the water. The NDRF and water police personnel present on the spot have rescued everyone safely, in which two people have suffered minor injuries. Also, a case has been registered against the boat owner and further action is being taken.
