Kolkata rape-murder case: 4 people's DNA found on the body, lawyer claims – CBI has not matched fingerprints
Kolkata (The Uttam Hindu): The case of the rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata has become more complicated. The CFSL report reveals that multiple DNA samples were found on the trainee doctor's body and one of them could belong to a woman. The body of the trainee doctor was discovered in the hospital’s seminar hall.
The CFSL report indicates that there were no signs of a struggle between the victim and the perpetrator at the crime scene. However, a report by the Multi-Institutional Medical Board (MIMB) suggested that the trainee doctor had fought to defend herself. The victim’s family lawyer raised the same question, claiming that a hair clutcher was found in the victim’s hair and this evidence was not included in the 40 items recovered from the crime scene. This raises suspicion that the crime may have taken place elsewhere.
Forensic experts in their report have stated that Sanjay Akela could be the sole perpetrator. However, they emphasize the need for a DNA expert’s opinion. Some of the samples sent for analysis showed contamination, making it difficult to confirm the presence of other individuals. The CBI has yet to respond to the reports on viscera and fingerprints in court. The CBI has compiled a list of 35 individuals who are under suspicion but their identities have not been revealed. Sanjay’s lawyer has accused the CBI of not presenting all the suspects.
