Under this clause, the captain is fined Rs 12 lakh for the first offence of maintaining slow over rate. The IPL statement said, "As this was his team's first offence this season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, Patel has been fined Rs 12 lakh." Axar Patel is not the only captain to be penalised for slow over rate this season. Mumbai Indians' Hardik Pandya, Lucknow Supergiants' Rishabh Pant and Royal Challengers Bangalore's Rajat Patidar have also been fined for similar offences. Talking about the match, Mumbai Indians batted first and scored a strong score of 205/5.
In reply, Delhi Capitals were all out for 193 runs in 19 overs. Karun Nair played a brilliant innings of 89 runs in 40 balls, but his efforts were not supported by the other batsmen. Mumbai Indians' Karn Sharma took three wickets at a crucial time and changed the course of the match. At the same time, three run outs were also seen in one over in Delhi Capitals' innings, which made the match more exciting. In the last overs, Ashutosh Sharma and Vipraaj Nigam tried to give Delhi a win with their good innings, but due to Mumbai's excellent fielding, disciplined bowling and ball change after the 13th over, Delhi Capitals could not achieve the target.
After the defeat, captain Axar Patel said, "We had the match, but some soft dismissals and poor shots hurt us. You cannot depend on the lower order batsmen every time. There is no need to think too much, it was just such a day. I was quite satisfied after the first half. The ball was stopping in the beginning, but later the situation improved and the dew helped us." He further said, "Two of our three spinners can also bowl in the powerplay and death overs. Kuldeep Yadav is bowling unbelievably. This match has to be forgotten from the batting point of view." With this win, Mumbai Indians have reached the seventh position in the points table with two wins in six matches, while Delhi Capitals suffered their first defeat this season and are now in second place with four wins in five matches
