In the Name of Superstition: 7-Month-Old Girl Killed by Mother in Snake Curse Ritual

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu)- A case came to light in Telangana which shocked everyone. Where a Kaliyug mother sacrificed her seven-month-old innocent daughter to get rid of the snake curse. In this case, a local court of Suryapet sentenced the woman to death.


According to the information, this incident is of 15 April 2021, when Bharti killed her daughter by slitting her throat and cutting her tongue during a special puja in her house. At the time of the incident, her ailing father-in-law was present in the house, who got suspicious after hearing the screams of the girl and saw that Bharti was going out in blood-stained clothes. The father-in-law immediately informed the son and neighbors. The girl was taken to the hospital, but by then she had died. Bharti's husband B Krishna told in his statement to the police, "My wife said during the puja that she has got rid of Sarp Dosh by sacrificing our daughter." The police reached the spot and arrested Bharti and started investigation.


Bharati was already suffering from mental problems and an astrologer had told her that she had Sarpa Dosha, due to which she was extremely mentally affected. The family consulted a psychiatrist in Khammam, but Bharati did not take medicines. In 2023, Bharati also attacked her husband with a stone weighing one kg while he was sleeping, after which a case of attempted murder was registered against her and recently she was also sentenced to one year.
