New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): If you're using Apple devices, it's crucial to be cautious. Cyber attackers are targeting these devices and could potentially infiltrate them stealing sensitive personal information or even deleting important data. The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), under the Ministry of IT has issued a high-risk security warning highlighting vulnerabilities in Apple devices that attackers can exploit to access or misuse private data. Here’s what you need to know.

Devices at Higher Risk

The warning specifically mentions that iPhones and iPads running on iOS versions older than 18.1, Macs with outdated macOS versions and Apple Watches with versions older than watchOS 11 are at higher risk of cyber attacks. Additionally, tvOS, visionOS and the Safari browser are also vulnerable. If you're using any of these devices it is crucial to update them immediately to safeguard against potential threats.

Potential Dangers

Failing to update your device could expose it to the risk of personal data theft, device malfunction or misuse of critical information. With cybercrime on the rise, taking extra precautions is more important than ever. If your data falls into the wrong hands, it could lead to financial loss or even legal consequences.

Protective Measures

To avoid cyber attacks and security vulnerabilities, ensure your device is regularly updated with the latest security patches from Apple. Apple frequently releases security updates for iPhones, iPads, Macs and other devices, so don't overlook them. In addition, make sure to restart your device after updating to ensure the security patches are properly installed. Stay vigilant and keep your device secure.
