Doctors Perform Pig Kidney Transplant on Human – Shocking Outcome!
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu)- Doctors in New Hampshire successfully transplanted a kidney of a pig into a 66-year-old man by altering its genes. After the success of this operation, the patient was kept in the hospital for a few days. The patient's condition was continuously improving, due to which he was discharged after just a week.
Doctors operated on 66-year-old Tim Andrews on January 25. Tim was suffering from kidney problems for the last two years. He was constantly looking for a kidney donor but he was unable to find anyone. According to Tim, it would take him about seven years to find a kidney donor. But due to this problem, he was constantly facing heart problems and complications of dialysis, due to which his chances of survival were low. When Tim came to know about this experiment, he happily agreed to it. According to the doctors, the kidney started functioning properly within a short time of the operation. The kidney did not show any signs of failure. This operation was like a relief for Tim, who was already suffering from diabetes.
This was the first case of transplanting pig's genes into humans after changing them. Some of the cases done before this did not have much success but doctors are very hopeful in this case. Doctors of Massachusetts Hospital hope that after this operation, humans can be helped by changing the genes of animals. There are more than a lakh people in America alone who are waiting in line for organ transplant. In such a situation, if this transplant from animals to humans is successful, then it will be an extraordinary achievement in the medical field. This can save the lives of thousands of people.
However, doctors say that it is too early to make any prediction about Tim's operation. We have to see how long she works without any problem. However, we remain optimistic and are eager to spread this hope among the people.
