Disha Patani’s Father Falls Victim to an Elaborate Scam – Who’s Behind the Fake Job Deal?
Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): Jagdish Singh Patani, the father of actress Disha Patani and a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police, has reportedly been duped of Rs 25 lakh by a group of scammers who promised him a prestigious position in a government commission. The incident took place in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, and an FIR has been filed against five individuals, including Shivendra Pratap Singh, Diwakar Garg, Acharya Jayaprakash from Juna Akhara, Preeti Garg, and one unidentified person, on charges of cheating, criminal intimidation, and extortion.
According to the police, Jagdish Patani was introduced to the accused by Shivendra Pratap Singh, a person known to him. Diwakar Garg and Acharya Jayaprakash, claiming to have strong political connections, assured Patani that he would be appointed to a high-ranking role, such as the chairman or vice-chairman of a government commission. Trusting their claims, Patani handed over a total of Rs 25 lakh—Rs 5 lakh in cash and Rs 20 lakh transferred to three separate bank accounts.
However, after three months of no progress on the promised position, when Patani sought a refund, the accused allegedly became aggressive, issuing threats and refusing to return the money. They even introduced a person named Himanshu, who posed as an "officer on special duty" to further convince Patani of their fabricated political influence. Suspicious of a larger conspiracy, Patani filed a formal complaint with the police, leading to the registration of the FIR. The accused have yet to be arrested, but police are actively working to apprehend them and ensure that appropriate legal action is taken.
