New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): In a significant operation, at least 12 Naxals were killed on Monday during an intense gunfight with security forces in a joint operation carried out by the Odisha and Chhattisgarh police. The operation was conducted in the border regions of Odisha's Nuapada district and Chhattisgarh's Gariabandh district with assistance from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

This encounter comes just a day after security forces neutralized two Naxals in a separate operation. The interstate crackdown is part of an ongoing effort to curb Naxal activities in the region.

According to officials, the operation was launched based on intelligence inputs about Naxal movements in the dense forests along the interstate border. The combined forces engaged in a fierce exchange of fire resulting in the elimination of 12 Naxals. The security forces recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition from the site of the encounter. Search operations are ongoing in the area to track down any remaining members of the group.

The successful operation has been hailed as a major achievement in the fight against Naxal insurgency further demonstrating the effectiveness of coordinated efforts between state police forces and central security agencies.
