Crores Stolen in Steel Businessman’s Home Robbery, Servant Caught Guiding Criminals

Ghaziabad (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking robbery has been reported in Ghaziabad's upscale Kavi Nagar area where a steel businessman and his wife were held hostage while criminals looted their home. The robbery allegedly orchestrated by their domestic servant Chandan with his accomplices resulted in the theft of diamond and gold jewellery worth ₹1.5 to ₹2 crore and cash amounting to ₹25-30 lakh.

Hostage Drama Unfolds

The incident occurred late in the evening when RD Gupta, the steel factory owner and his wife were watching TV at home. A group of unidentified criminals entered the house held the elderly couple at knifepoint and forced them into a room. The intruders then raided the house targeting cupboards that contained cash and jewellery.

Inside Job: Servant’s Role Exposed

During the robbery, the criminals were reportedly in constant contact with Chandan the couple’s domestic servant who had been working for them for two years. Chandan guided the robbers via phone providing details about the location of valuables including ₹10 lakh worth of newly bundled currency notes.

Locking the Victims and Fleeing

After looting the house, the miscreants locked the businessman and his wife in a room. Around 10 PM, when the house fell silent RD Gupta managed to free himself and alerted the police.

Police Investigation Underway

ACP Kavi Nagar Abhishek Srivastava stated that the case was reported on January 7. Police teams have been formed to arrest the accused and a detailed investigation is in progress.

Previous Suspicious Behavior

The businessman revealed that Chandan, originally from Bihar had been seen leaving the house with the guard’s knowledge on the evening of the robbery instructing him not to lock the doors. This has further confirmed his involvement in the crime.

Authorities are working to apprehend Chandan and his accomplices in what is being described as a meticulously planned and sensational heist.
