Country on High Alert After Pahalgam Attack, 1,450 Suspects Detained in Kashmir

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the police administration has become alert about security arrangements in the entire country. Tourists were targeted in this attack, due to which special surveillance and security arrangements have been tightened in tourist states as well. At the same time, a big action has been taken after the terrorist attack. After the Pahalgam attack, security forces have detained more than 250 over ground workers in entire South Kashmir. These people have been detained under the intensive investigation and interrogation campaign started by Jammu and Kashmir Police in collaboration with other security agencies. Apart from this, about 1200 people have been detained in Kashmir who are accused in terrorism related cases. In total, 1450 people have been detained and are being interrogated.

Police Sumbal in conjunction with 13 RR and 3rd Battalion of CRPF arrested two persons named Raees Ahmad Dar and Mohammad Shafi Dar at Kanipora Naidkhai Orchards from whom 1 AK 56, 30 rounds of AK 56 rifle, one magazine and 1 Chinese grenade were recovered. A case has been registered in this regard. According to officials, the move is aimed at identifying the network that made the attack possible. Over ground workers are believed to have provided logistical or intelligence support to the attackers, though their specific role is yet to be ascertained.

Alert issued across the country

In Haridwar, Uttarakhand, under the leadership of SSP Pramod Singh Dobal, the police has started an intensive checking campaign in the entire district. Policemen in plain clothes have also been deployed at major places like railway station, bus stand, Har Ki Pauri, ghats and temples. SSP Dobal said, "There will be no laxity in security before the Chardham Yatra. The police is keeping a close watch on every suspicious activity and every possible precautionary measure is being taken." Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that instructions have been given to increase security at all religious places in the state. He said that the Punjab government is trying to bring back those citizens safely, who have been stranded somewhere in Jammu and Kashmir due to this attack. Chief Minister Mann said, "No religion allows firing on innocent and unarmed people. We should strongly condemn this inhuman act." He also clarified that the state government is also keeping a special eye on religious tourism going towards Himachal Pradesh, so that no untoward incident happens. Apart from this, security arrangements have also been tightened in the country's capital Delhi. Soldiers have been deployed for security outside historical buildings and religious places. The police is keeping an eye on every situation. Along with this, patrolling is also being done.
