Bangladesh Deploys Army to Protect Hindus; Visible Impact of Modi-Yunus Meeting

Dhaka (The Uttam Hindu): Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on a visit to Thailand, where he met the head of the interim government of Bangladesh, Mohammad Yunus. In this meeting, PM Modi prominently raised the issue of safety of the Hindu community living in Bangladesh. Now the positive effects of this meeting have started to emerge.

Special arrangements were made for the security of Hindus in Bangladesh on the occasion of major Hindu festivals like Ram Navami, Durga Puja and Maha Ashtami. The army implemented elaborate security measures at places of worship, bathing ghats and other religious places so that devotees could perform religious rituals without any hindrance.

Active role of army in religious events

Religious occasions like Basanti Puja, Maha Ashtami and Punyasnan were attended by lakhs of devotees across the country. During this period, the army took the responsibility of round the clock surveillance, patrolling and traffic management. Especially in Langlaband (Narayanganj), devotees from India, Sri Lanka and Nepal also attended the Maha Ashtami bath held on the banks of the Brahmaputra river.

Large numbers of devotees also gathered in areas like Chilmari Upazila, Comilla, Chandpur and Chittagong. The army strengthened security at every Puja Mandap and kept constant vigil to maintain peace. Also, an atmosphere of trust was ensured by communicating with Puja committees and priests.

Army became a symbol of religious harmony and unity

The professionalism, promptness and dedication of the Bangladesh Army has further strengthened the trust and gratitude among the Hindu community. The role of the army has become an example of religious harmony and national unity.
