A Wave of Grief as Harvinder Singh Hanspal, Former MP, Punjab Congress President, and AAP Leader, Dies
New Delhi/Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Eminent leader Namdhari Harvinder Singh Hanspal has passed away. Harvinder Singh Hanspal served as a Member of Parliament twice and was also the President of Punjab Congress. In 2022, he joined the Aam Aadmi Party. According to sources, he went to Max Hospital in Delhi for a routine checkup, where he suffered a heart attack and passed away. His last rites will be performed on Tuesday, December 24, at Rajouri Garden in Delhi. His death has caused widespread mourning within the Namdhari sect.
Notably, Harvinder Singh Hanspal was a two-time Rajya Sabha member and had held the position of President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. He also represented the Government of India at the United Nations and served as the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha House Committee. A former Member of Parliament, he represented Punjab in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of India’s Parliament. Recently, Hanspal left the Congress party and joined the Aam Aadmi Party, where he was actively involved until his passing.
