Andhra Pradesh (The Uttam Hindu): The shores of Suryaraopeta in Andhra Pradesh's Kakinada witnessed an awe-inspiring moment as 52-year-old Goli Shyamala completed a grueling 150-kilometer swim from Visakhapatnam. Undertaking this extraordinary journey over five days, Shyamala demonstrated incredible resilience and endurance covering 30 kilometers each day under the guidance of the Coromandel Odyssee Ocean Swimming organization. Her arrival was met with jubilant celebrations with dignitaries like Peddapuram MLA Chinarajappa and Kakinada Municipal Commissioner Bhavana Vasista congratulating her remarkable achievement.

A resident of Samarlkota village in Kakinada district Shyamala is no stranger to endurance swimming. She previously swam across the Palk Strait in 2021 and became the first Asian to complete the challenging waters around the Lakshadweep Islands earlier this year. Supported by a dedicated team of 14 crew members including medical staff and scuba divers, her journey was marked by both joyous moments such as swimming alongside dolphins and challenges like encounters with jellyfish.

Shyamala’s feat is a testament to the power of determination and the human spirit. At 52, she has proven that age is no barrier to achieving extraordinary goals, inspiring people across generations. Her journey not only celebrates physical endurance but also sends a powerful message about pursuing dreams with unwavering courage and passion.
