5 Nepalese Nationals Killed as SUV Overturns to Avoid Stunt Biker After Maha Kumbh

Muzaffarpur (The Uttam Hindu): Five Nepal nationals lost their lives in a tragic road accident while returning from Prayagraj after attending the Maha Kumbh. The incident occurred on Saturday in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district, when the SUV they were traveling in hit a divider and overturned while trying to avoid a stunt biker on the Madhubani four-lane bypass.

The high-speed impact caused the Scorpio SUV to flip over five times, leading to catastrophic damage.

Devastating Aftermath

Visuals from the accident site depict a completely crushed vehicle with shattered windows. The force of the crash was so intense that one of the SUV’s tires detached and flew into the car. Bloodstains were visible on the wreckage, painting a grim picture of the accident's severity.

The vehicle was carrying nine passengers, out of which five died on the spot, while the remaining four sustained critical injuries.

Victims and Injured Identified

The deceased have been identified as Archana Thakur, Indu Devi, Mantarni Devi, Bal Krishna Jha and the driver.

The injured survivors are Manohar Thakur, Srishti Thakur, Kamni Jha and Devtaran Devi.

All victims are residents of Nepal, officials confirmed.

Eyewitness Accounts and Police Investigation

Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with distressing screams heard from the wreckage. According to them, a group of bikers were performing stunts on the busy four-lane road. The SUV, which was traveling at high speed, swerved sharply to avoid hitting one of the bikers, but in the process, collided with the divider and overturned multiple times. The bikers immediately fled the scene after the crash.

Officials also noted that the airbags of the vehicle did not deploy, worsening the impact on the passengers.

Rescue and Response

Authorities arrived promptly at the scene with locals helping rescue the injured from the wreckage. The survivors were rushed to Shri Krishna Memorial Medical College (SKMCH) for urgent medical treatment. Their condition remains critical.

Police have informed Nepalese authorities about the tragedy and are attempting to contact the families of the victims.
