Reasi (The Uttam Hindu): An important update has come for the devotees heading to the Vaishno Devi shrine. The committee protesting against the ropeway project installed by the Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has announced a shutdown of Katra from December 25 for three days. The District Magistrate has called the leaders of the protest committee for discussions related to the matter.

The committee leaders have stated that they will end the strike if they receive good news regarding the construction of the ropeway. In a recent meeting in Katra, the leaders and members of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Struggle Committee discussed the issue. After the meeting, a leader told the media that the strike held on December 18 was organized under the banner of the protest committee. On that day, the District Magistrate of Reasi also called the committee leaders for a meeting.

This meeting will take place on December 24 at 3 PM. The leaders expressed their hope that the District Magistrate will bring good orders to halt the ropeway project. They are hopeful that the Lieutenant Governor will give them a New Year’s gift, as they expect a favorable decision regarding the matter. The protest committee leaders have made it clear that if no positive order is issued on December 24, the committee will call for a shutdown of Katra starting from December 25 for three days. They have warned that if no action is taken, they will escalate their protests further.
